GHS Ch. 15

So far, Jack and Praiseworthy have met many shady characters... but who do you think is the most villainous and why? :) Be sure to give examples from the book to support why you think the characters you chose is the worst villain of them all.

**If you have extra time, review the responses from last week's posting and visit Mrs. Day's Graphing Website to make a graph depicting who our favorite characters are! :)

**Also, visit the book's website at www.hornspoon.info/ for some interesting links.

By the Great Horn Spoon! - Ch. 11 Response, 4/1/08

In Chapter 11, we meet another interesting character: Pitch Pine Billy Pierce. Of all the characters you've read about in the Great Horn Spoon, which one has been your favorite? Choose one character in the book and describe them by discussing three of their characteristics, and what happened in the story that made you decsribe them in this way. For example, I think that Praiseworthy is very brave, because nothing ever makes him worried in the story, even when he's faced with road agents or people shooting his washpan out of his hands. Remember, please use proof from the book to support your ideas. :)

If I Were a Leprechaun!

If I were a leprechaun from Ireland,

I wouldn't dance all day.

I wouldn't play tricks on people,

Then hide and run away.

If I were a leprechaun from Ireland,

I wouldn't just run around.

To hide gold at the end of a rainbow,

In pots that will never found.

If I were a leprechaun from Ireland,

I'd want the world to see,

That I'm real and I'm small and I'm Irish

And I have gold in piles bigger than me!

Yes, If I were a leprechaun from Ireland,

I'd shout out happily,

That I live in the fields here in Ireland,

But no one will ever catch me!

**What do you think the author's opinion is of leprechauns and why? Do you agree?

*If you were a leprechaun, what would you do? :)

Welcome!

Welcome to our classroom writing blog! Each week, we'll be working on the blog during our writer's workshop time. A short story or poem will be posted, and you will be asked to read the posting and respond to a question about it. After you post your answer, you must read what your classmates have written and post a response to their ideas; do you agree or disagree with what they wrote and why? Remember to be respectful of your classmates' work, post using your student number (not your name), and check your own answers carefully before posting -- they should include a literary reference and checked for spelling and grammar. :) Have fun!
